Is there red or green drive in MyCloud?

Hello,

I have 8tb mycloud. I couldn’t learn what type of drive in MyCloud.

Red or green?

Anyone knows?

I have 2 My Clouds 3TB and they are both WD Reds.

Thank you for the reply.

How can you know the disk type? Did you open the system? Or did you read it somewhere?

Check HDD S/N.
But - all MyCloud series have “Red” drives.
MyBook - Mostly Green’s.

Unless you want to take yours apart and see what’s in it , look at this.

How can I learn harddisk serial? In the bottom of mycloud there is only serial of mycloud.

Please help…

You can find the internal My Cloud hard drive information by issuing the following Linux command using SSH.

hdparm -i /dev/sda1

My first gen wdmc 2tb has a WD red inside.

At last WD customer support replied and my cloud harddisk type is absolutely RED:

I just cracked mine open after 7 years and found a green 3T 64 MB cache … maybe I got swindled ?

Was it mycloud or mybook?

WDMC Gen1 has WD Green drives at start, but later its changed to Red drives.
WDMC Gen2 and newer “MyCloud’s” have Red drives.
