I purchased the My Cloud Home Duo device from Best Buy to replace a legacy NAS drive. I’ll skip the part about how clunky the process is to set it up for RAID 1 (shadowed disks) was but once I had it up and running and pushed about 50,000 photos to the drive, it started sending alerts to the Android app about Disk errors were detected on disk1
and the light on the front of the device was giving the “fast heartbeat” - an indication of device errors.
I worked with support, they told me how to access and send them the logs and they quickly said that it had to be replaced under warranty. I paid to ship it to them and about 30 days round-trip later, I had a replacement device. I set it up (this time it came pre-configured for RAID 1 - nice) and pushed those home photos to it again and now? Errors are being pushed to the Android app that say Disk errors were detected on disk2
.
Are you kidding me?
So now, I opened a new support ticket but I’m wondering - is this product just a defective architecture/design? Am I going to have nothing but trouble with this thing?
