For some reason the IP address on my MyCloud devise has suddenly changed, and now I cannot access it.
Any ideas why this would happen, and how do I change it back when I can’t access it?

Did it change with a restart? Did you change your internet provider? what device are you using to access it?
What is it’s address? What is the address scheme of you network?
For example, 192.168.0.XXX
It did change with a restart, and rebooting has not managed to change it back
various devices accessing via wireless
changed to 169.254.120.116
typing that IP address into the browser does not bring up the device dashboard
169.xxx.xxx.xxx is a non routable IP address. This suggests your device did NOT get a DHCP IP address from your router and defaulted to this one. Double check the connections and cables. Make sure the little lights on the network ports are on/flickering.
What prompted the restart? Did you relocate the device? Change any other equipment out? Reboot after a firmware update?
I was an unintentional reboot, power cables was knocked; router seems to be working fine
What WD model is it? What’s the IP address of the device (desktop/laptop/.etc.) you’re using to connect?
Does the device appear in the router table of IP addresses? If so, what is it? This would be the last one assigned.
Are the lights on the back by the network port on?
Are there any flashing lights on the front of your WD device? Since you had a power interruption, it could be rebuilding/resyncing.

192.168.1.179
Not too sure if I’m looking in the right place, but it doesn’t look to me as it’s listed in the router; this I think
All lights are on at the back of the router
No flashing lights on the front of the device.
missed this off - 192.168.1.1
@Smegsie
Are you able to look at the addresses provided on your router? If you’re able to find the address for your device then make it a static address.
What router do you have?
Example image from my Linksys. I click on my device and it shows the address.
That IP address is typically the local network router or gateway’s IP address.
If one previously configured their My Cloud for a static IP address and they have forgotten it, they can perform a 4 second pin reset to reset the Admin password to blank and reset the DHCP mode to automatic.

Or if one can access their local network router they can check to see what IP address it is indicating for the My Cloud device by accessing the router’s administration page and looking at the DHCP server’s client IP address list for the My Cloud IP address.
Excellent Bennor, that did the trick - I’ll try and remember that for future occurrences
much appreciated
Also, thanks everyone else for your input, kept me busy for a while ![]()
