Invalid password error after updating -- My Passport Essential SE

So, the problem I have is that I can’t unlock My Passport Essential SE anymore after updating the WD SmartWare and drive’s firmware. I think the unlocking issue was there already before updating the firmware but after SmartWare.
When trying to unlock using SmartWare I get the error Invalid password after waiting for about 1.5 minutes. When trying to do it using the unlock.exe file on the drive itself it takes a while, beeps and closes without unlocking it. Also, worth mentioning, for a while it didn’t give any password hint (I think it was after SmartWare and before firmware update), now it is showing the hint again.

Any ideas how to solve it and access the drive again?

Hi, have you tried on a different computer? Have you tried using a different USB cable and USB port? What operating system you have in your computer?

Hey, no, I haven’t tried with a different computer. I have tried using a different USB port but not with a different cable, however I only bought this new cable a couple of weeks ago and haven’t used it for anything else, so cable can’t be the one causing problems. I am using Windows 7 Professional.

Edit: Forgot to say I also contacted support about it and they told me to update SmartWare, which I thought wouldn’t help and I was right. Got it updated but now in SmartWare it says “No writable partition found” under the drive’s icon. So can’t even get as far as unlocking…
