I see all shared folders - but "there is no media in current folder"

I have shared 3 folders on my network and I can sucessfully see all 3 via Network Shares.

I basically have music, photos and movies.

Photos work perfectly, I can see all my sub-folders under the shared parent foler.

Whenever I access music & movies, I get as far as seeing all my folders (including sub-folders with artists names or movies titles), but when I try accessing them I constantly get the error msg: There is no media in the current folder.

I am connected via a Wired Ethernet connection - using Win 7 64bit.

I saw others with similar problem, but they would get that error message as soon as they would select “Network Shares”… I get beyond that and see all files, but cannot read either music/movies.

Password protected sharing is turned off.

Any clues what could be causing this?

Thanks for your help.

hi

  • seems like media library is on  or/and you search your network files beyond wrong “icon”

try to :

  • disable media library

  • check your network area [on screen] again

Check that the permissions of the FILES are correct.   Not just the FOLDER, but the FILES themselves.

Sounds like a simple share issue.

  1. Remove all shares

  2. Add previous shares - For each folder add the user “everyone” and give read/write permissions.

  3. Reboot PC and WDTV unit. Should be fine now.
