Suddenly my External Hard Drive is not detected and failed (Not even processing) with the tests of Western Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. I believe I tried everything. When I connect it, there is no strange sound, the sound is okay , the temperature is okay as WD Quick view mentions. The light is also on. When I connect it, the sound of USB detected in my laptop comes but nothing appears. WD SmartWare detects it but as no writable partition. And I also can not fix it using the Disk Management tool in Windows. Is there any fix for my matter?
Try a different USB port, perhaps a different USB cable to see if the drive comes up, also if possible try to check if the drive appears under disk management when you right click on computer and click on manage. Hope this helps.
I have two WD external drives. The other one works perfectly using the same port and cable. I can see the disk in Disk Management but when I try to do anything, it says Disk is not ready.
Seems like the partition on the drive got corrupted, i recommend reformatting the drive and then try to use for backup, however if you have information on this unit that you do not have somewhere else try too run a data recovery software, you can also check this link with some data recovery partner, in some cases they will have free diagnostics of your drive:
