I forgot my password

Hi,

My external drive is password protected, I forgot the password.

The details of the external hard drive are as follows:

“WD My passport ultra Metal edition”

I like to recover my password or I am happy to format it.   Could you help me with information on either formatting or recovering the password please?.

There is no recovery or reset if you can’t figureout the password.

I think if you use the VCD unlock (unlock.exe on the other drive that appears when you plug the MP in) and deliberately fail 5 times, and then safely disconnect and reconnect it and do that again I think it will give you the option to format the drive. That was for older drives but may work.

If not I think it can also be done using newer versions of Smartware, but I’ve never personally tried that.
