Hi,
I got a My Cloud (Gen 2, 4TB) and updated the firmware version to 2.30.193.
Now I wanna replace the hard drive with a new 2TB drive, how can I do that? Just simply restore an virgin image(where can I find the official virgin image for 2TB hard drive compatible with Gen 2 and 2.30.193 firmware version) is enough or anything else I need to do?
Use the forum search feature, magnifying glass icon upper right, and search for “unbrick”. There are numerous past discussions about unbricking and replacing a My Cloud device’s hard drive. There are a number of steps that need to be performed to properly prepare a new hard drive so it will run the My Cloud OS.
User Fox_exe has a set of directions for the Gen 2 My Cloud that some have used to either unbrick or to replace the hard drive of their unit. See the following link:
Note that it is best to use Linux to perform the steps needed to perform the unbrick procedure. One can use a Linux boot disc/boot USB flash drive to boot their computer into Linux. Ubuntu is a popular Linux distro people have used here to unbrick.
Check the tutorials which you have shared and by following this I tried doing but nothing is happening. Please suggest any other process. Thanks in advance. Regards, panda helperemu4ios
What does “nothing is happening” mean? More information is needed. Which specific procedure did you follow? What color is the front LED light? How did you perform the unbricking steps? Did you use Linux?
