You don’t. Why would you need to?
To clear previous use of the drive - how does one format MBL?
By restoring it to factory default using the menu.
So this requires installing the smartware, correct?
No… You can do it via the web menu on the MBL.
Where is the web menu on the MBL?
Consider the following:
I had loaded Smartware and was using it to backup my computer. It was working successfully.
Last week, I received notification that there was an update, which I loaded - only to have MBL locked.
After trying all that I could do (which is limited as my computer setup experience is 0), it seemed to me that the only solution was to reset everything.
I reloaded Smartware, only to receive the same update notification.
I loaded the update only to have the same results - a locked MBL.
Again I removed Smartware.
The network recognized MBL without Smartware.
I opted to use the backup method by Vista - which appears to be working.
I can retrieve the files through Vista - but unsettling to me - is that when I open MBL - Drive Z: - I do not see these files. Not sure if they are intentionally hidden.
Now that I am better understanding how the cloud and Safepoints work - I am rethinking our set up.
It appears that the better method is to reset/format our MBL - put all our working files on it for easier management and obtaining a second MBL to backup/Safepoint the first.
To do this, I need to wipe/fomat the drive and therefore the question where the web menu is.
