How to connect My Cloud to another laptop

Hi!

My own Hp laptop collapsed due to Windows updates.

Now I try to collect all my data to My Book and a second backup to My Cloud.

No promlem collecting User files etc to My Book via Usb 3.0

but… hard time with My Cloud!

Had no problems at home while I had wireless home web and a wlan modem.

At my Mum’s there is no actual modem box so I had to connect My Cloud via ethernet cable to this Mum’s laptop and at the same time there also is a Usb 3.0 cable. Two cables connecting My Cloud to this laptop. But no connection! I am unable to see My Cloud in as a harddisk.

Please could some one figure out what do I do wrong!?

I only have one more day time to get this solved due to my ticket back home.

Thank You so much!

Connect ONLY the ethernet to the laptop.  From there you can access the files via File Explorer > Networks > WDMyCloud

See p110 of the user manual:

“My router  has failed. How  do you  manually map the drive letter?”

Thank You! This seemed to make the trick!

Mapping link is very useful! Have had that kind of vanishing problem also at home!

Thank you so much!
