How do I disable indexing. Slowing device to unusable speeds

I have a My Cloud Home 4 TB. It is constantly grinding and doing “something” in the background. After spending hours researching it seems to be related to indexing images.

This has been going on for weeks. Pretty much ever since the outage in April. I don’t know if it’s related but it knocked my transfer speeds from 100 MB/s down to approx 100 KB/s-5 MB/s.

Do I need to turn off anything that copies images to my drive? I would like to backup images but I also want control over when I can use my device.

I deleted all my pictures - my backups from Google Photos. The problem is not fixed. The drive is still spinning constantly doing god knows what. I can barely copy a file to or from the device. Using the mycloud home website is excruciatingly slow.
