I have WDTV HD MEDIA PLAYER.
My remote is broken… what can i do?
the only android app i can see is called WD TV Remote but i cant use it…
…its says my wdtv is not in the same network…
can i use a wireless usb adapter on my wdtv hd media player ?
is there any way to use my wdtv hd media player without the remote??

Can you please share the model number for your unit? This will allow us to identify the specific unit that you have.
If you actually have the old WDTV HD, you can get a replacement remote from the WD Store, or eBay, or any number of other places. Even the current model WD TV media player’s basic buttons will work.

It’s unreal that you expect any Androd App to talk to the media player! The WD00AVP isn’t networked!!! :laughing:
The only possible way it’s on a network is if you’re using hacked firmware (WDLXTV, for example) – and then you further expect WD to support a product that’s hacked?
probably not the best place to ask for help with a hacked device
that said I wasn’t involved with the firmware in the Gen1 device, so I don’t know what it includes
but would recommend to look for EIRI or irinject via cmd line
EIRI would be particularly helpful, it allows you to use almost any remote with the WD, but again, I don’t know if it was part of the Gen1 firmware
I do know it was part of the custom firmware for WDTV Live and WDTV Live Plus
ps. those android remote, if I’m not mistaken are looking for an API, which does not exist in the Gen1 device
