Hi All,
I have 2 years warranted WD My Book 2TB External Desktop Hard Drive (USB 3.0/2.0). It suddenly becomes undetectable by any PC. I have 4 partitions; films 500gb, musics 500gb, programs 500gb, back-ups ~400gb. After plugging into PC, the first three partitions are slowly detected while the last part called as back-ups is not properly detected. In “My Computer”, this part is seen as “Local Disk” which is not reachable in any operating systems, i.e. windows or ubuntu. The folders in other partitions can be seen in “My Computer”. However, they are not completely free to copy or paste, since PC is trying to mount the last partition. At that moment, a periodic “tick” sound comes from WD hdd. I cannot hear the normal hdd sound rotating at full speed after firstly plugging it.
I’m an electrical & electronics engineer, but I have no experience about HDD to open. In my country, two firms offer to recover data at higher costs. The files in back-up partition is crucial for me, since I have no other copy of them.
I was wondering if there is any suggestion.
