Hello, i have a WD My passport for Mac. It’ works fine, but when i approach the drive it’s give one loud beep. I have change the cable, but that wasn’t a solution. Everything seems to work fien, b ut why there is that beep? And how to get off it?
I have a 4TB My Passport Ultra … it beeps loudly (once) when safely removed/ejected from my PC or when the PC is shut down.
It’s normal for that drive. (have owned it for about 3~4 years and works fine)
i wouldn’t be concerned
i do have other WD Portable drives (My Passport Wireless, My Passport & WD Elements SE, WD Elements) … those drives don’t beep, but none of them are 4TB (they are between 500GB ~ 2TB Capacity)
If you get a constant beeping …then i would be concerned. (could be faulty USB Cable or Faulty USB Port on the Mac not providing enough power for the drive)
Thanks for the answer. I have also the beep when I opening for example a photo on that drive. This did not happening before. Maybe it is not to concerned, but is it possible to stop that sound maybe?
