G-Speed Studio XL Not Showing Up in G-Raid Software Utility

Hey all,

After perusing this forum months ago to get a G-Raid Shuttle XL setup, I came across a great deal for a G-Speed Studio XL and them some enterprise NAS HDDs in a separate offer. I went to get it all set up the other day and I cannot get the device to open up the G-Raid Utility window similar to how it works when I plug in the Shuttle XL.

I get onto chat and then onto a phone call with support and we try a few different things, but nothing. The point I am at is that there are 8 identical drives inserted into the Studio XL, and it powers on, and the white G logo flashes on and off, and every bay flashes on and off a blue light. Disk Utility on the MacBook also doesn’t show it as a disk, but System Information shows it as attached via Thunderbolt cable.

As of writing this, I am on MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1, G-Raid Software Utility is 3.02.5200.06 (C04), which is the most up to date version.

I am on a Silicon M1 Max MacBook Pro, but also have my Intel MacBook Pro (where the drive also doesn’t show up).

When looking at the user manual it makes mention of another application called G-Speed Studio Assistant, but cannot find a link to download that, and all traces of that seems to have been obliterated from the internet.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hey Riyan,

Yes, I’ve exhausted both options. Found someone with a similar LED flashing pattern but there was no response to that forum post either.

I was also on chat and the phone with technical support for over an hour and was essentially told “leave it alone for a ‘while’ to initialize” and “did you try turning it off and turning it on again?”

I’ve done both those and left it to “initialize” for more than 48 hours, which is more than 1 hour per TB as others have suggested.

The only thing I can think of doing is giving it to an IT infrastructure professional to see if they can figure it out, since I’ve had no good leads on what to do.
