G-Drive USB "not readable by this computer"

I purchased a Gdrive USB 4TB but it will not mount or initialize on my Mac.

I am using Mac Os El Capitan OS 10/11 6 on late 2009 Mac Book Pro:

1. I attach the Gdrive Usb 4TB and I get message:

“The disk you have inserted is not readable by this computer”

2. The drive is detected in Disk Utility but will not initialize:

3. System Profiler is recognized the drive on usb 2.0 bus

Ideas?

Is there a firmware download?

Hi Jake, were you ever able to solve your G drive initialize issue. I bought a 3.0 USB Drive, still on Yosemite but getting same error message. Any help.

There is no firmware download for the drive. That message means the partition needs to be erased in order to mount and be usable.

Make sure when you select the volume to Erase in the Disk Utility you are choosing the one that shows the capacity of the device in the name.
