G-Drive files deleted when MAC operating system was downloaded onto it.

I needed to update my MAC andd there wasn’t enough space on my mac and it gave me the option of sending it to my G-Drive. I had plenty of space so I sent it there. It deleted all of my photo files from my Lightroom catalog. Is there a way to recover these files?
