Free space and used space counts in the ui Nas web page

It should be very comfortable to get the count of the space in use/occupied when accessing with a web browser into the Nas. At the moment there is only the free space available and many counts about how much music, video, pictures etc are present into the Nas. Honestly for my use the music count etc is just a distraction, but if the people like this no problem. Adding the total used space count will make me more effective when I have to value where ti store etc. I very hope to discover that function after the next updates. Thanks for reading, Andrew

Ps: Seen that is based on *.nix with just a ‘df’', 'grep, tail and awk the job is done and ready to ‘seed’ into the html web page

Not sure of what you are asking or telling here. Are you able to provide a screen capture and explain what you would like to see?

See example image below of using mycloud.com.

Here the graphic example

should be useful to get as well tha total number of files and directories presente into the Nas

The capacity section on the v4.x My Cloud Dashboard Home page doesn’t show used space. Obviously if one knows they have a 4T My Cloud then they can deduce how much is used from the free space that is listed. One can select the Diagnosis caret icon where they’ll see a percentage entry for Free Space.

One can go to the Shares page on the Dashboard to see how much space each Share is using.

If your asking for a new feature then feel free to suggest it in the Cloud Ideas section and hopefully WD will get around to implementing it (sometime) for the v4.x single bay My Cloud’s.

Knowing where to look for information will help. Stick around here, read and learn.

I use SmartWare to backup my computers and cell phone. Below is an image showing a lot of the information you are asking about.

Thanks for answering, Basically should be fine the info that Windows does when on a volume/drive You click ‘proprieties’ link this in the image

But seen that WD is a big company oriented in full customer satisfaction I spent time with Gimp to create the interface that I mean. In the while I have exceed inserting ‘symlinks’, ‘hardlinks’ and ‘hidden files’. Dont care about the graphic, colors styles etc, to me should be important to get all infos at glance. This will make me in control of the Nas state and in few second I can make a decision if this Nas has space for my next backup or not, in the second case I just will change backup destination to another medium. Last ‘request’ if is possible. Should be really important to get in the main windows the DISK TEMPERATURE Celsius an Fahrenheit. Often the Nas stay in place w/o air and to know the temperature can prevent damage. Thanks for reading and helping, Andrew

I forgotten to indicate the tools to get temperature and more infos using a *.nix OS, MyCloud should be based on *.nix if I don’t mistake.

The effective and affordable tools: hddtemp, smartmontools, sensors

As indicated above, post your suggestions for changing the interface in the Cloud Ideas section. Just note that WD pretty much just say “Acknowledged” and you have to hope that maybe, at some much later time, they’ll update the Dashboard to include much more info than they do. In the Cloud Ideas subforum you’ll find many suggestions for enhancements to the Dashboard, don’t know if any more than a handful if at that have ever been included in subsequent firmware versions.

As Bennor said you can make suggestions, but since most of this is already in place, I doubt if WD will make any changes, you just have to know where to look.

If people read the User Manual and install it per the instructions it should not over heat.
