I have a new phone which I would like to add to my WD MYBOOK LIVE, but I have forgotten my owner password. Is there any way of retrieving the password by e-mail?
Hope this will work for you:
Go to your pc and open my computer and then click on network.
You should see your My Book Live on the lower division.
If you click on it the web page for the device should show.
Here you can reset the passwords for the users on the device, and the administrator password. I had to remove all passwords before I could gain access the MBL.
The Software update trashed the inteligence of the drive and now the smartware wouldn’t allow me to login and told me that their was no available partitions on the device. This was the only way I could get back on the unit from anywhere! **bleep** software update!
joking: That only allows you to CHANGE the password, not RESET the password. (Because you have to have the password to log into the web page.)
To reset the password, you need to press and hold the RESET button on the back of the unit for 4 seconds, which will reset the owner password and also set the network configuration back to default.
