Flashing Red Lights - No Power

Hi there,

I have a PR4100 which all of a sudden, just lost power and then wouldn’t power back on. After disconnecting the power cable, letting it sit overnight with nothing attached and reconnecting it, the NAS just blinks it’s 4 red disk lights over and over simultaneously (about once a second) and but doesn’t appear to switch on. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas what it means?

Cheers,
Ross

I have had a few NAS power units go bad on me in the past

if you are careful you may find PC laptop power units of the same voltage/amp and plug
or better yet a WD replacement power supply

There are dozens of power supplies on eBay or Amazon that are direct replacements for the external power bricks for the EX4 and PR4100 series NAS boxes.
Just search for “WD PR4100” and there will be a list of 10 or 20 sellers.

I wouldn’t try a PC power brick.

I run two power bricks on my 4 NAS (2x EX4 and 2x PR4100). They are plug and play.
