…Soooo, can WD be a little more specific? I’d like to decide whether this is important enough to upgrade to so I can weigh the risks of installing the update and risking the possibly bricking the NAS or not.

So, I stumbled upon the answer to my own question by trial and error. This new version allows the ability to upgrade to OS 5.
