Firmware Update seems stuck?

I went out earlier and saw that my MBL had started the firmware auto-update. Came back 8 hours later and it had about a 2 millimetre bit of the blue progress bar filled up. Left it for an hour and it hadn’t moved. After checking how exactly it does the update (didn’t want a brick), I unplugged the drive and restarted it. Quickly went in and disabled auto update, and selected update from file (I had already downloaded the update file from the site). Pointed it to the file, and now it seems stuck on the “Importing File” message. I get the little popup box saying “Importing File” with the spinning circle. But it’s been linke that for about 30 minutes now. I would expect it to be quicker than that, or am I just being impatient?

OK, I left it running for 90 minutes or so, and got bored so I switched the drive off. When it powered back up, it said the update had been done, so it seems it was just something to do with the web page hanging? Maybe it’s a Safari issue.

Only thing now is I can’t see anything different. Any ideas what I should be looking for?

The update fixed nothing but prepares the MBL for the following update which is described as a major update.

well they obvisouly didn’t fix the progress bar issue.  It happens time and time again.  You’re left guessing if the firmware installed.

Can I just stay on my firmware from 3 releases back, and update right to the major update when it comes out?

If you are having issues updating, I would contact our support folks. they will make sure you get squared away. You need this update to transition to the new release.

No we will not guarantee any files are not changed. Sorry Myron.

Thanks Tony. The update seems to have worked, it just “hung” on the updating page, and as soon as I removed power it rebooted. Neither auto update or update from file seemed to work as expected (the progress bar seemed to freeze on both), but after the update from file, it did actually seem to install. The info page now shows the latest firmware version, and everything seems fine, so I assume it did the update, but somehow the web interface locked up.

I was assuming this was the major release you mentioned before, so was expecting to see a difference, which is why I was unsure if the update had worked correctly. I did read the release notes, but somehow managed to convince myself that this was the major update! Anyway, perhaps not the smoothest transition to a new firmware that I’ve ever experienced, but it all seems to be working so I’m happy!

Thanks again.
