Finding and updating firmware

I have a WD device that has not updated to OS5, but the problem is I have no idea how to upgrade, there is nothing on the site telling me how to do it, and I keep getting dead website pages and .bin files that don’t do anything. I don’t even have a clue as to what current firmware or even what device I even own because nobody in support has been able to tell me. Help would be appreciated and I really just want to know how to find what firmware I have, if I can upgrade it, and what device I it is I own.

Is this where you downloaded from?

Software and Firmware Downloads | WD Support (wdc.com)

Where did you place the download? Once you know where it is then go back to the Dashboard and click on Settings>Firmware Update>Manual Update>Update from File and then select the file and your update should start.

OK, I got to that part, but now I am trying to install firmware 2.41.121 but it is a bin file and the dashboard is saying that it will only accept a .deb file.

What firmware is your My Cloud running? The v4.x single bay My Cloud (which uses a .deb file) cannot be updated to OS5. The v4.x single bay My Cloud has been end of support for more than a year.
