The problem in this instance is the DLNA client used on certain Samsung TV not supporting SRT from network sources. There have been several prior threads on this particular Samsung TV issue.
Sorry, but sometimes there is no clear answer or solution. If one does a Google search for Samsung TV SRT they’ll see that this problem is not just a My Cloud problem. It happens with other NAS (like QNAP) and DLNA servers (like Plex). People are reporting they can play SRT files with their movies when they use the USB just not when they connect to a DLNA media server.

I just bought the new Samsung ue48js9000 uhd and cannot play SRT subtitles via DLNA / Network (tried cable and Wifi) with WD my book live 4TB. Embebed subtitles in MKV play ok. SRT subtitles play ok if connected via USB drive to OCB.
With other TV’s at home SRT subtitles play fine via DLNA / Network (Samsung F7000 and D6500).
FW Versions are (latest I can find by 30.JUL.2015):
Samsung JS900: 1214
WD My Cloud: v04.01.04-422
DLNA Media Server (Twonky): 7.2.9_7.5.0-43

first of all I want to say sorry for my terrible english
I have samsung C650 tv and an WD My Cloud 4tb edition
when playing a movie with subtitle (in .srt format), the subtitle doesn’t play
I read previously topics some one said I resolved this problem with twonky server but I couldn’t solve this problem.
Please can someone help me.

If one does an internet search they’ll see that others using other NAS devices are having similar problems with certain Samsung smart TV’s.
