Is there a way to force WD Black D10 8TB to use the fan? After some time there are 56 Celsius degrees while HDD is not under heavy load (23 air temperature in the room).
I’m using it with PC at this moment. Can I move one or two external HDDs onto flat laptop cooling pad? Will there be additional vibrations affecting the disks? Should I be worried about 44-48 temperature (8TB My Book and 8TB Elements) during summer?
Whether it’s an HDD or SSD or any other storage device, every storage drive has a minimum and maximum operating temperature. To check the ideal temperature of your storage device, visit the drive’s website & check the product specification & details over there. Mainly, the ideal storage temperature is between -40°C~85°C and operation temperature is between 0°C~70°C. It means, till the time the temperature is in between the given ranges, you don’t need to worry. However, to avoid or face any data loss situation, it’s always suggested to keep multiple backups of your important data.
You’re doing pretty darn good if you’re only getting 44-48c during Summer … i wouldn’t be worrying about that in the slightest , you should be very pleased with those temps.
