I’ve got an EX4100 running firmware 2.21.126 that I am accessing with an iMac running Sierra (10.12.3) I’ve set my Mac to automatically mount two shares on the EX4100 which it does perfectly. My problem is that once mounted, my Mac keeps dropping one or both of the shares and I have to remount if I want to access, sometimes I even have to restart the Mac. I’m also have a Time Machine backup set to the EX4100 and I sometimes get the error that the share is already in use and then I have to restart to get Time Machine to work.
My question is, is this a Mac OS problem, or is this a My Cloud problem?
The best way to confirm if this is a system issue or a NAS issue is by trying with another Mac if all else (Connection type [Wired/Wireless], a static IP Configuration, different protocols [SMB/CIFS/AFP]) has been attempted.
Probably the NAS then because this happens on all our laptops too, both wired directly to the router and on wifi. Now that Apple just released 10.12.4, will have to see if this persists.
The problem still persists, my Mac keeps dropping one of the shares, but only one. At login, I have it attach to two different shares. One share never gets dropped but the second one can go all day or just a few minutes before getting dropped. This time, I was actively downloading to the problematic share and the Mac dropped the share and “blew up” my download. I never had this problem with my old NAS, a different brand.
I can not confirm, that dropping shares is an issue with my EX4100 and Mac connected to it. My setup: MBP 15" latest OS, wired through thunderbolt Ethernet connection. Static IP on my EX4100 and only AFP and TimeMachine Service enabled.
Tip: Look in the console app on you mac to further investigate the issue
