EX2 drive replacement and expansion created new spanning volume 2 - How to change to RAID 1?

I have an EX2 that had 2x 6TB drives in RAID 1. One failed. I took the opportunity to upgrade to 2x 8TB drives. The oder of events was:
Replace bad 6 TB drive with 8TB - Rebuild RAID
Replace good 6TB drive with 8TB - Rebuild RAID
Now I had 6TB Raid 1 with 2 TB unused
Expand and wait for it to finish (like 18 hr)
Next it gave to option to claim the space which I did
It created a spanning volume_2 which is not what I wanted - There were no options that I saw

Now I have a 6TB RAID 1 Volume_1 and a 4TB spanning volume_2. I would be ok with a 6TB RAID 1 Volume_1 and 2TB Raid 1 volume_2

If I use the change RAID mode I cant pick a volume. I can change the whole RAID mode of the two disks. If I did this, volume 1 is already RAID 1. Would Volume_1 be left intact without losing data and volume _2 be changed from 4TB spanning to 2 TB RAID 1??
RAID Volume

Followup on this. I wound up formatting to a new 8TB RAID 1 group and doing a backup/restore of the files. Interesting that now with the new RAID 1 group the expand option is there. With the 2 original 6TB drives it was not. I assume this was because one drive was bad.

Its seems to do an expand and get the desired results you need to start with a good RAID group, select expand, then replace a drive with a larger one, then the other with rebuilds in between. This is my assumption only though.
