EX 4 won't shut down

I was having problem accessing my EX4. Said it was asleep but it wouldn’t wake, even though I’m pretty sure I don’t have power saving on.

I manually hit the power button & the message says “system is shutting down” & the lights on all 4 drives are flashing. Problem is that it has been shutting down for 6 hours.

Suggestions apprecaited.

The EX4 can enter a state when it is unresponsive due to CPU activity.  The only remedy is to manually pull the power plug from the back and re-boot.

Having the same issue here.  It’s been fine for the past six months.  No changes to the unit (firmware updates or anything).  Just suddenly earlier this week…BAM.  3 plug pulls since Sunday.  Sooner or later it’s not going to come back up from one of those.

Have you got a USB drive attached?  If so, remove it and see if that helps.  The new firmware behaves erratically with attached USB drives.

I would make sure I checked the messages.
I’m dealing with same issue that happened out of the blue. NAS was functioning fine even though slowly. I relocated it this weekend, powered it back up, and KAPOW! No power supply #1 error message with rapidly blinking blue LEDs.

Status said unit was OK, and, I had no issue accessing the shares, once it finished internal ‘checks’.

I’m trying to locate part number to replace power unit 1. My error message, along with the flashing blue LEDs is: “Power supply 1 failed.”

Thankfully this unit has a backup power supply.

Just thought I’d mention checking the display window messages…scroll through them…you may be losing a power supply. Pulling the plug is the only way to shut it down…

OK…just powered my unit back up. Error message appeared but this time, the power supply “2” failed…unbelievable.
