I am looking for an external hard drive that can be used for both an imac desk top and a PC lap top as I would switch back and forth.

Guy at best buy said I could use this one as it is for both mac and windows.

I plugged it in and I think I either need to install for mac or pc but not sure if I can do both. or if I do for mac will it not work for pc then?

Hi chadmolay,

You can reformat the drive into exFAT file format to make it work on both windows as well as MacOS Computer. You can follow the steps given in the link given below to reformat the drive into exFAT.
