Dropping Network Connection

Hi everyone

I have a problem using ‘network share’ from my wdtv live to my windows7 2 year old PC.

I can ‘network share’ (took some time setting up, adding ‘everyone’ access etc.), I can play my MKV with sound etc, so everything works fine, and then this happens:

I can watch for a random amount of time, and then the network connection on my Win7 PC literally goes down. Naturally that stops wdtv live playback.

My network is stable on the pc for years, only when using the wdtv (its the first thing to use network for anything but inet on my pc) it crashes. Win7 shows me ‘no network connection’, Inet doesn’t work etc. PC Reboot fixes the network + of course wdtv can reconnect, so I rule out router / switch problems.

I don’t even know where to start looking how to solve this problem, so help would be great. It’s like the PC can’t handle the connection, or the wdtv sends some command to the pc which it’s network stuff can’t handle.

Network: asus p5kc mainbord with gigabit ethernet with cat5e cable to a gigabit switch, which in turn connects via cat7 cable to the wdtv live.

There is a router behind switch managing the Inet, but the wdtv should not need to go there to communicate with the PC as the switch comes first.

I think it especially happens after ‘pausing’ the playback and resuming (about 30 sec. after that), but that could be coincident to.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
