Driven to Tears..?

Like many, my WD Elements 10B8 drive stopped showing up. Since I didn’t have much on it anyway (because I didn’t use if for very long) and the prompt said that I had to “format the disk”, that’s what I did. Oddly, a second prompt stated that the formatting “failed to complete”. I did attempt a data recover, but nothing showed up after 6+ hrs, so I stopped it. Is it safe to say that my external is a lost cause, even though “Disk Management” shows that it’s there and says that the device is functioning properly?

You can test the drive using the Western Digital “Data Lifeguard Diagnostics” tool, this software will scan the drive to detect any bad sectors and may repair them:
