I have a WD easystore external drive and recently it’s been randomly disconnecting and occasionally makes funny noises.
Upon closer inspection I noticed the drive spins and spins and spins, even when I’m not using it. I always leave my computer running and never disconnect the USB so that means it has been spinning continuously since the day I bought it.
It seems to be on its last legs. Anyone know what causes these drives to spin even when I don’t have any files from it open?
