Disappointed with WD - Do Not Want to Go To One of Their Competitors

Honestly, I can’t believe I’m posting this, but a recent order I placed, has made me lost faith in Western Digital, so much so I’ve been thinking of purchasing from one of their competitors.

Roughly 3 weeks ago I placed an order for a 750gb Black Cavair drive that was on sale on WD’s store.  At that time there was no mentioning of it being out of stock or backordered.  Days went by and my order was still being processed.  After nearly a week without any inactivity I still hadn’t received word, so I called into customer service.  After some digging the CSR told me the item was on backorder, which is hilarious because there was no mentioning of this in my order status, NOR did I receive an email informing me of this.

He told me they had no real ETA on when new drives would arrive, but told me it would be a week, max.  So another week goes by and still no activity.  I called back, and got the same runaround…was told to allow for an additional week.  So that week flys by and sure enough, I receive an notice of cancellation of said order, without an honest answer…extremely vague as to what the reason was for the cancellation, but I suspect no or low stock.

Every internal hdd I own is a Black Caviar, and to be honest I wouldn’t have it anyway; WD makes some solid drives, so much so I’ve recommended them all to my friends and family for their storage needs.  But after this headache for a single drive, it’s pretty obvious that WD does not pride itself on fulfilling proper orders, and than expect their customers to investigate when those orders are not properly processed.

Definitely not a statisfied customer, one bit!

Tends to happen when you buy online, no matter the retailer, the product or the brand… You just had back luck.

Just because it happens, doesn’t mean it should even happen, or at least be handled the way my experience was.

I shouldn’t have to chase down customer service to tell me why my order hasn’t been processed for weeks, only to be given empty promises and notified out of the blue that my order was cancelled.

This is by all means a terrible business practice, and has most certainly left a bad tate in my mouth.

I’ve read that others who got in on this deal are being offered $20 credit for any in-stock item, yet I have yet to receive such a credit.

Sounds like we really missed the mark here.  I sent you a private message.
