Difficulties partitioning new WD easystore on Mac for use on both Windows and Mac

Hi,

I just got the WD easystore 4T and want to partition/format it so that I can use it on both my Mac OSx (Sierra) and a Windows PC. I’ve followed the directions here multiple times (for both exFAT and FAT), but keep on getting different error codes, such as “Command could not be found” and “Not enough space”.

Any suggestions on how to make this work? Or should I partition it on the Windows computer?

It has been seen that hard drive greater than 2 T faces partitioning issues through Disk Utility. Are you able to format it with HFS successfully? If yes, then partition your disk with HFS. Later, through Disk Utility try to add another partition of FAT or ex-FAT volume. Click Apply and see if it works. Thanks.
