I just bought WD Mycloud 4 TB drive, the white one. Looks nice but that’s as far as it goes
After spending days trying to figure out how to make automatic synchronisation to the NAS drive its not working correctly. In the main its was not easy to setup and now I have it working its very unstable. Using WD smartware its showing backing up less then 1 meg every 15 mins. This is ridiculous and a sham. Does any one have a step by step guide on how to setup automatic backups of the Laptop drive to my cloud device? I want to very before I return this piece of junk (as you can see am not happy with this device and would not recommend anyone buying)
After several days managed to get mapped drive to the NAS Mycloud device. Copying to the mapped drive is happening is less then 1 meg a second which again is appaling. Is this correct?
Please respond asap as I ready to return this item at the moment and never buy WD device again… :o(
How much do you have to backup? Your initial backup will be slow, that’s why I did mine overnight and did not do everything at once. Doing it at night allowed me to have my computer and use it during the daytime if I needed to.
My twice weekly backups now of my Desktop computer normally take from 15 to 30 minutes. See example image below. Click on, tap or activate image to enlarge it.
You didn’t appear to indicate HOW your network is configured. Is the My Cloud connected to a Gigabit router or switch? How is the laptop connected to the local network? Using WiFi or Wired. What is the laptop indicating for a speed of the network connection? Have you tried running a benchmarking program to test the speed of the network connection?
Edit to add: Also please note this is generally a user to user support forum. If you need to speak to WD themselves I would suggest you contact them directly.
