Change WD TV Play's Workgroup?

Hi,

My WD TV Play is struggling to find either my server or NAS on my network to stream content. It’s wired to the network (not wireless). All other PCs can see and stream from either Server or NAS, and I can see the WD TV Play in my network from the PCs.

When click my storage it just keeps telling me there is no content.

According to many Google searches this was a known issues with TD TV Lives that could potentially be caused by the device not being on the same Workgroup. I can’t see mention of work groups within the settings?

The Server is running WHS SP2 and the NAS is a FreeNAS box.

Any thoughts?

The Play does not support SMB so the workgroup is irrelevant. You need a DLNA server to let the Play connect to it.

ah, thanks for the feedback!

I still had some troubles getting the WD TV to display content from the existing DLNA servers on my network, it found them but said there were no files present on either my PC or my WHS, but I am in the process of setting up a new FreeNAS box so I’ll install the DLNA plugin after I have moved the data and see if I get more joy from that.

Cheers again

how many thread we need to opened to understand the WD TV Play ONLY support the DLNA shared folder ?!??

It’s correctly reported in manual or no ?

OK, boys, calm down.
