Can't read retreived files

Bought a new computer because old one starting to show signs of self destruction. New and old one are both HP running Windows 10. Removed password from old computer and backed up using SamrtWare 2,4,14 (same version on both units). when I hooked up the My Passport Ultra to the new computer and retrieved the backup, everything seemed to load normally. However, I cannot open any photos that were brought over (says I don’t have permission) nor can I open any PDF Files.

You will have to change permission of the files and take ownership of the folder.
