Can't Opened Retrieved Files

Hello folks. So I have been using my WD Passport for a few years now and just recently got a new laptop. Today I tried to retrieve some of the files from it to my new laptop however when I try to open any of the files I receive an error message, as seen below.

This is rather worrying as the files are artwork of mine that I have scanned so I’d really like to be able to retrieve them. Any idea why I might be getting this error?

How where the files backed up? manual backup or you where using a software?

Cloud be a permission issue. Are you able to try changing the permissions for the files?

Hello ER. It was using the software. I had a look at permissions and it says that Administrators, which my account it, have full control. Full control is also listed next to my computer user name. Given this I’m not sure what else to do.

Does anyone have any further suggestions? It’s quite a pain not to be able to access my own files.
