I see a few have posted this before but I cannot seem to find an answer to my query.
Having uploaded all my video files to my 4TB cloud and installing the app on my laptop and iPad, I find that I cannot play any non compatible files on my iPad like avi or mkv files. They work fine on my laptop.
My understanding takes me to believe that a third party player can be used by using the “send to” and choosing the player.
My issue is that I only have “email as link” as an option.
I am using VLC on my ipad and on my laptop.
It may be very simple but can somone offer some guidance please?
The application is working properly, what happens here is that iOS will let the iPad play the files that your iOS device can play natively. The application wont let you select a specific application to open the files because the files are not located on your iPad.
For example on an android device you are able to select the application , but if the file is over a certain size the application will tell you to download the file to the android device, since iOS wont let you transfer a file unless it is through iTunes or a 3rd party application using iTunes.
Agree with above, and the only way I know of playing these files on iPad is to use the app VLCStreamer, on iPad and it’s PC add-on to run VLC on computer. Then these can be played TO the iPad and viewed, BUT need a fast network and fast PC as it is very CPU-demanding of PC, but it does work! It even can stream a DVD to iPad.
