I see there are years worth of complaints about this, and obviously WD has taken no action. Got new 5tb Passport today (03/22/24) go to install the digital software and it stalls @18%. Close & reopen and get an error: Installation Failed - We are experiencing issues. Please try again later. What a frickin joke. I bought it specifically because it had internal software. Guess it’s going back to Amazon tomorrow.

And why would I open a support ticket when so many people are still reporting it an issue on the WD support website. You know it’s an issue, why don’t you report it. It’s been an issue for years based on how far back the comments go, so it seems that WD doesn’t want to do anything about it.
