Total newbie here so forgive me for what is probably a dumb question. I have a WB My Cloud which is connected to my computer and other network devices in my home through my wifi. I just bought a laptop, which I have connected to my network. I can see the WD My Cloud listed in both my media devices and storage lists in my network, but I cannot access the actual drive or files on it.
I have tried to map the network drive but it won’t show up on the pull down, and when I type in the address it can’t find it. What am I doing wrong, or not doing? I want it to show up as a drive like it does on my desktop computer.
Is it Windows? Go to Explorer, then drop-down the Network icon and then drop-down WDMYCLOUD and right click on the share you want to map, then follow the prompts. Just did this twice this week on 2 different computers that I did not install any WD programs on.
You do need to turn on File and Network Discovery or something similar in the Windows Wifi settings.
Thanks so much for the replies. My problem isn’t in knowing how to map the drives, I have done this with my Desktop computer previously. The issue is not having my WD Cloud as an option to map on the laptop.
First, I am using Windows 10. I have set everything for my network sharing to allow the connection. On the laptop I see the WD Cloud drive listed in the network list, but when I attempt to map it (though any method) and select browse the WD Cloud never appears. As a result I am not able to map it, What am I doing that is keeping it from showing up when I try to map?
Yes. It’s on and the laptop is connected to my wifi network. I can go online, etc. I can also see the WD drive listed above on my network screen, but can’t seem to map it.
