Cannot operate wd disk on ahci

My motherboard is Asus p5k-premium wifi-ap (blackpearl edition)

I have 2 disk:

wd1600aajs-00L7A0
wd5000AAKS-00YGA0

Both of them when i change the option from the bios for the controller to AHCI then on every reboot the system stays at Searching channel 3 (where 1 of the disks is connected)  And i cannot even enter the bios again to change it.

I must first disconnect the disk! Other disks are recognized fine from the motherboard.(other brand)

i also have 2 x WD2502abys which are also can operate normally at ahci mode.

I dont think there is a technical problem with the disks because the wd1600aajs-00L7a0 is a brand new one! (Never worked before)

 Something is wrong but i can’t find what.

Other that this, the disks are working 100% excellent! The wd500aaks is working now for 3 years with no prob!

I hope someone can help me :slight_smile: I’m Desparate.

This is weird dude, are you sure the drive is good? What if you run a test on it?

both disk are checked and healthy.

wd160 is brand new.

They just dont like ahci :S is there any firmware ? because i can’t find somethind

Sounds like a bug in your bios.

Are you trying to put XP on a SATA drive ?
