I have just bought a My Passport external drive.
To start with, my computer did not realize it, Then, connecting for the third time, the drivers were installed - except SES, but as I have read, it is not immportant.
Then I received a message to format the drive - it has failed, Tried again, failed again, the drive was not visible in Windows. I connected it again, WIndows has seen it, with the WD Software. So I have run the Setup.
Then, created the Backup plan, but did not have the time to wait for the backup to run, had to switch off the computer.
Ever since I am unable to backup, the Preparing backup message appears, and after 6-7 minutes, it stops. There is a notification in WD Backup stating Target full.
I am running Windows 7.
Update: the drive itself works, I can copy the files directly, but the Backup program seems not to be working properly.
Hi, can you please share the model number of your drive? Have you tried using the WD Smartware?
Hi, the model is WD88 D001588K-EESN. I have not tried WD Smartware, I just checked the drive, it was reported OK.
Now I have installed the software for my laptop, it works all right with that.
So, there must be some config problem on my computer. It just would be nice to know which device it cannot work with.
