So My MyCloud was working mostly flawlessly since I purchased it 6 years back.
However around 3 weeks ago it was unaccessible and had a orange light on the front. Tried the standard reset methods using the reset button to no avail. And finally decided to take it apart to see if I could read it on my laptop.
Attached is a photo of what is shows up in disks. You can see it has 226 bad sectors and some weird partition scheme showing 4TB as “Free Space”. Am I right in assuming this is gone?
How many partitions are on the single bay/single bay My Cloud hard drive depends on which version you have. The first gen v.4.x (P/N -00) have 8 partitions. The second gen v2.x (P/N -10) appears to have 7 partitions.
If you haven’t done so already it is best to use Linux, either via a boot disc/USB flash drive or VM install or install Linux OS to view the shucked My Cloud hard drive. That will allow full read access to the drive and should properly see all the partitions and it should properly mount the user data partition.
