I’m still having problems opening Word 2019 files. Android app version 4.23.0(2487). Word files saved in docx aren’t recognized and files saved as Word 97-2003 error message “can’t open file” trying saving the file on the device and then opening it. Can’t seem to do that either. And no the files are corrupt.

I have the same app as you and I clicked on the three dots by the file I have and sent it as a link, view only. I sent the link to my AOL e-mail account. I had to download the file to my, My Files. There I selected to open the file with Word. See image below. Click on, tap, or activate image to enlarge it.
