I am seeing problems with USB recognition by WDTV live after moving to 1.04.31_V firmware. It used to recognize my 1TB my book always after power up. Now it does not. I am having to powercycle both the drive and WDTV live to get it to recognize again. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Which my book are you referring to? My book world or My book essential?
If its the world try doing the net work setup again
We haven’t seen this issue in our testing. To help us reproduce this issue in our lab, can you please provide the following information:
-Drive model
-Drive Part Number (P/N)
-Drive format information (MBR? GPT? NTFS? HFS+?)
-Roughly how many files do you have on the drive? Hundreds? Thousands? Are they large files? Small files? A mix?
-What operating system do you use to put files on the drive? Win 7? Vista? XP? OS X?
-Do you have any other USB devices plugged into your WDTV, such as a wifi dongle or USB keyboard?
Thanks.
I am sorry. I could not get all the details as I was busy. The problem exists even now and I am planning to go back one version in firmware.
I reverted back to 22_V and now I see no problem in My Book recognition now. I have mostly my kids dvd iso files on it so that they do not damage the dvds or the dvd player. But I have to say my 6.5 year old daughter is not very happy with wdtv live. She wants me to buy another box but unfortunately roku xds does not have all the capabilities.
I tried new firmware version 1.05.04_V. I have problems with that version too in wdtv live detecting my book 1TB drive.
Me too. WD Elements 2TB with 1.04_31_V and the current 1.05.04 versions. Going back to 22_V fixes it for me, too. There is something broken in these last two releases with regard to USB drive mounting.
