There has never been any reported successful attacks on the My Cloud Home devices as there were examples of some older decade old WD devices. WDC reported in their press release that a security breach occurred on or prior to March 26, 2023 and since then there has been no reported malicious attacks on the MCH device even as they were still connected to the internet. Anyone who wished, out of abundance of caution, to disconnect their MCH from the internet is certainly right to do so.
There is nothing wrong with mentioning a competing product but please refrain from giving out specific hardware advice that has nothing to do with the topic. In any case, the DS220J has half the DDR memory of the MC Home and the SSD mentioned is not in the hardware compatibility list for the 220J.
This could be confusing for anyone following the My Cloud Home hardware in this thread.
