Windows 24H2 + WD = blue screens

So far going on 11 days now with the new WD firmware on my plagued windows 10 machine. So far no disk resets since 10/14. This is by far the longest time I have ever gone on this configuration without having a lockup or BSOD.

My Samsung laptop has SN740, I have no idea, curious if you found out anything?

@uncletim

I ended up replacing it with a non-WD drive I bought. It coincided with me needing to upgrade from half a terabyte to 2TB anyway. I still haven’t gotten round to installing 24H2 though. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

The WD SSD Dashboard for Windows has found updates for many WD SN580 and SN770 SSD that I checked.

It seems that old Samsung have issues with Windows 11

I get how frustrating those issues with the WD Blue SN580 SSD can be! Western Digital’s updates can sometimes take a while, especially when they’re tackling complex software and hardware interactions.

While waiting for a driver update, try these steps to help improve performance and stability:

  1. Check for firmware updates – WD often rolls out fixes via firmware updates.
  2. Use the WD SSD Dashboard – This tool can give insights into drive health, performance, and update options. You can download it from the WD Support page.

If issues persist, reaching out directly to WD support might give you quicker solutions while waiting for official updates. They can offer troubleshooting steps that are specific to your device.

Will there be an update so we can use it as it is made for again, with 200mb cache ?
That means we must firmware update it again

Hi @LorainLabhart ,

Windows 11 24H2 users have reported blue screen errors linked to Windows Defender (WD). This may stem from compatibility issues or recent security patches. To resolve, update drivers, check for Windows updates, or temporarily disable real-time protection in WD. For a full guide, see [Microsoft’s troubleshooting page]
