Re my “My Passport” backup bought many years ago.
Windows 11 says "Device Security // Core Isolation // Memory Integrity is ‘off’ and cannot be turned on because of interference with Western Digital driver called wdcsam64_prewin8.sys
It says to check for driver updates from you, but then warns to NOT delete the drivers (which I presume would make your device un-usable.
How do we reconsile your My Passport product with Windows 11 Core Isolation?
Hi @leslie3
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:
To resolve the conflict between your “My Passport” and Windows 11’s Core Isolation, visit the Western Digital Support website to check for and install the latest driver updates for your device. If no updates are available, contact Western Digital Support for assistance. As a temporary solution, you can disable Core Isolation by going to Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation Details and turning off Memory Integrity, but this reduces security. If the issue persists, consider using a different backup solution compatible with Windows 11.
To address the conflict between your “My Passport” and Windows 11’s Core Isolation, please follow the steps below:
- Visit the Western Digital Support website to check for and install any available driver updates for your device.
- As a temporary solution, you can disable Core Isolation by going to Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation Details and turning off Memory integrity.
But but but … every time I read that (1) advice I can only find WD saying explicitly that ‘there are NEVER any driver updates for this product’. Could you please give us a link to these driver updates? Thanks
