I bought WD elements 1TB and im not sure which thing to download on my mac so I can put things on it.

Well I would like to inform you that WD® Elements comes Pre formatted in NTFS file system and Requires reformatting for Mac OS X. If you wish to use the time machine on the Mac OS then please format the drive in HFS+j file system or if you wish to use the drive on different OS then format the drive in exFAT file system.
